Our Favorite Books for Elementary
Last Updated: August 2, 2017
Here is a list of our favorite books and series.
I enjoy reading short chapter books to my preschooler and kindergartener. These chapter books are enjoyable for the parent and kids. We found many on audiobook at the library and my son would listen over and over again. Warning: Grandma wanted to know what all the big kid talk was about.
-------
My Weirder School #1 Series by Dan Gutman (Reading Levels Grades 1-5/Ages 6-10)
Junie B. Jones Series by Barbara Park (Reading Level 1-4/Ages 6-9)
My 4 Year old also loves listening to these on audio book.
Recommendations & Our To Read List
These are recommendations from other parents. This list contains affiliate links.
Arcade Catastrophe by Brandon Mull - "Clean, good, exciting!" says one mom.
Harry Potter - "The narrator for Harry Potter and Peter and the Starcatchers is the same guy and he is THE BEST narrator we've listened to. His name is Jim Dale. We have all of these books on Audible," says one mom.
World According to Humphrey by Betty Birney
The Penderwicks - "Appropriate for everyone (no fantasy involved!)," says one mom. "They're the best! Even my boys enjoyed them!" says another mom.
I survived Series - This one looks a little scary for little kids, but it is a scholastic book, so maybe 4th-6th Graders?
Spirit Animals - "LOVE the narrator's voice/accent...they aren't too scary...and parents love them, too," says one mom.
Where the Sidewalk Ends - This is one of my favorites from childhood.
