Here's a secret Moms aren't telling you.... two kids is not twice as much work. It is three times as much work. Let me tell you why.
Yes, you have two sets of cloths, laundry, toys, car seats, gear, etc. But what they didn't tell you is there are three times as much clean up, monitoring, disciplining, and exhaustion.
1. Clean-up. Yes, there are two more hands to make messes. Kid A will make his messes and Kid B will make a mess too, but what I didn't realize is that Kid A and B with collaborate to make a third mess. I thought having two would be great because they would play together. Ha. Yep, they play together.
2. Monitoring. Here's an example. As I write this, Kid A has a train track built upstairs. Kid B sneaks upstairs to play with the track. Kid A freaks out and now Dad runs in, to rescue and separate both. With only one kid, you can manage and contain the issues much easier.
3. Baby Proofing is more than just securing items once. You may babyproof and item or area, but the Toddler or Preschooler will come in and "fix" your work. So all of a sudden you are redoing everything multiple times and not just once.
I am sure I will have more to come, but for now you get the idea.
Oh, and yes, I can imagine that multiples are an extraordinary amount of difficulty.
